We do like a good festival. Good festivals being the ones that don’t cost more than ten euros, have good food, a bunch of good bands (the majority of which we haven’t even heard of before, because really, what’s the point of seeing a bunch of music if there’s no mystery about any of it) and then, most importantly, a great venue that’s within Berlin and is basically stumbling distance home for us. For we like it not to catch a bus home from a festival at all. It spoils the mood. Unless you’ve got a cool rasta busdriver who tells long funny stories about short funny people, all the while rolling and passing around a bunch of doobies. But only then.
Flink Festival at Lovelite here in Friedrichshain is one such festival, it’s only eight bucks to get in, features art installations, performances, amazing stone oven pizza cooked with a talent that could only be bought from the dark lord himself (Ainsley Harriott) and on top of all that, quite obviously, bands, fucking awesome bands!
Here’s the lineup:
18h My New Old Bellyache (Berlin, D) – Haunted Shoegaze
19h Kyst (PL) – Discordant strings and orchestral maneuvers
20h C’mon Raver (NRW, D) – Trip hop, Keys
21h Touchy Mob (Zauberberg, Berlin, D) – Drone / Glitch / Electronica / Live deep house
22h Maia Bambul (Mhlheim a.d.R., NRW, D) – Puppet Show /Performance
23h Sandy Bird (Berlin, D) – Four piece down-tempo indie / modern classical
00h Avyd und Unmenge (NRW, D) – Bedroom banger live electronica, glitch
01h Jagoda (Berlin, D) – Vocal driven epic indie rock.…And then: from 02h Performances with special guests and even more party after that with J.F. Sebastian (Team Indiepanzer, NRW, D) and D.J. Morris Minor (Berlin, D)
VJs: Maia Bambul, Guten Tag, Nuna, bld (NRW, D) and Konrad Kstner (Berlin, D)
Splendid! Now all we need to do is find that doobie dealing busdriver and we’re sorted.
